ITC should serve as a hub of economic activities: CS

Srinagar, Sep 7: Chief Secretary Madhav Lal on Wednesday emphasized the need for a sustainable business model for the International Trade Centre (ITC) being established at Pampore.
 He said the Centre should serve as a hub of wide ranging economic activities in the core sectors including industries, handicrafts.
 Chairing a meeting to discuss the matter relating to the established of Centre, the Chief Secretary asked the concerned departments to work in close coordination and formulate a comprehensive strategy to move ahead on realizing the prestigious project, an official statement said.
 He, according to the statement, said that expert consultancy can also be roped in to prepare DPR and formulate a viable and visionary roadmap for the International Trade Centre and its techno–economic feasibility.
 The proposed International Trade Centre at Pampore envisages creation of state-of-the-art facility for national and international Trade Fairs, Buyer-Seller meets, transaction of international business and interface with the overseas markets and business tycoons to boost business and trade.
 The government has already transferred over 371 kanals of land for the centre, which is likely to involve an estimated cost of Rs. 116 crores, the meeting was told.
