School Games in Sgr from Sep 15
Srinagar, Sep 7: Minister for Youth Services and Sports R S Chib has said that J&K will host 6-day 57th National School Games Football Boys U/17 at Srinagar.
The Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) under the aegis of School Games Federation of India is organizing the event from September 15, 2011.
The Minister said this at a high level meeting convened to finalize the arrangements for the smooth conduct of the games.
The Minister called upon the concerned departments and organizers to ensure close coordination to make the event a grand success. A committee was also constituted to look into the boarding, lodging and other provisions during the event.
As many as 20 teams comprising 600 players and 100 supporting officials from across the country are expected to participate in the games.
Among others, Commissioner Secretary, YSS B A Runiyal, IGP, Kashmir S M Sahai, Director, YSS S. Jaipal Singh, Director, School Education, Kashmir Shagufta Parveen, Secretary, J&K State Sports Council, Kiran Wattal, Additional Commissioner, Kashmir, A M Wani, Joint Director, YSS Madan Lal, ADDC, Srinagar, M A Ganai, SP, Ajaz Ahmad, SP, Security, Farooq Hakim, Deputy Director, YSS Ashok Kumar, besides senior engineers from PHE, PDD and representatives from SMC attended the meeting.
