‘Cong impeding cabinet expansion’
Srinagar, Apr 9: A day after his reappointment as Additional General Secretary of National Conference (NC) firebrand party leader Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamaal Monday accused Congress of impeding the expansion of the state cabinet.
“We are ready for the expansion but unfortunately there has been no green signal from Congress in this regard,” Dr Kamaal told local news gathering agency KNS.
Pertinently, while three ministerial berths are lying vacant in Omar Abdullah cabinet since its inception in 2008, two more berths have fallen vacant, in the wake of the resignation of two senior Congress ministers for allegedly ‘misusing’ their official position.
As per the present cabinet format NC’s share is one vacancy whereas Congress has two, besides two portfolios of R&B and Education which are presently with the Chief Minister.
