Dr Farooq releases `1 cr for college grounds

Srinagar, Apr 9: For maintenance of playing grounds in Kashmir valley, National Conference President and New and Renewable Energy minister Dr Farooq Abdullah on Monday released an additional Rs. one crore from his MPLADS fund for the maintenance of Amar Singh college ground and SP College ground.
Dr Abdullah said that he had promised students and locals in the area that he will maintain two historical playgrounds in Srinagar city. In last July, Dr Abdullah had given Rs 70 Lakh for maintenance of Amar Singh college ground and Rs 30 Lakhs for SP College for its maintenance.
Today the National Conference president released an additional amount of Rs 50 Lakh for each ground (Amar Singh College ground and S.P. College) after reviewing the meeting of concerned officials.
Dr Abdullah said that he observed the additional funds are required for the maintenance of the two grounds as the students and sports lovers are facing problems while playing in rainy conditions.
The National Conference president also said that both the grounds were in worse condition and maintenance of the two was become important.
