Farmers receive subsidy cheques

Kupwara, Apr 9: DDC Kupwara today distributed cheques worth Rs 26 lakh among 227 farmers on account of subsidy.
The cheques were distributed at a function organised in Town Hall here.
The function was organised by Agriculture Department, an official statement said.
Giving details it said: Out of total amount, Rs 16 lakh were distributed among 127 farmers and Rs 10 lakh among 100 farmers as subsidy on purchase of irrigation pump sets.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC urged the farmers to adopt modern farming methods.
He assured the farmers that during current kharief high quality seeds, fertilisers and other farm inputs would be made available by the Agriculture department.
Present on the occasion, were Chief Agriculture Officer, District Agriculture Officer, senior officers of Agriculture department and a large number of local farmers.
