House Committee for preservation of wetlands
Srinagar, Apr 13: A House Committee comprising of Members of Legislative Assembly, Nazir Ahmad Gurezi, Basharat Bukhari and Ghulam Ahmad Mir met today to discuss the alleged illegal filling of wetlands in Pattan Constituency bordering Srinagar, Baramulla and Bandipora districts.
The Additional Commissioner, Kashmir, Abdul Majid Mir, Director Land Records, Deputy Commissioners of Srinagar, Baramulla, Bandipora, Chief Engineer, Irrigation and Flood Control, Kashmir and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
On the occasion, the Additional Commissioner directed the DCs not to allow any illegal filling of wetlands. The Committee sought revenue documents of the area under scanner which will be discussed during a meeting on April 19, 2012, an official spokesman said.
