‘Start construction of Forestry Faculty at Benihama’

Ganderbal, Apr16: The residents of Lar tehsil here have hailed the decision of SKUAST-K vice-chancellor not to shift the Faculty of Forestry Benihama from there.
“The vice-chancellor SKUAST-K termed the reports about shifting of Faculty of Forestry Benihama as mere rumours. We hail his statement and hope the construction work for the faculty will be started soon,” said Sheikh Ishfaq patron Shaheed Jabar Foundation Lar.
"We extend all the support to SKUAST-K for strengthening the faculty,” said Gul Muhammad War, spokesperson Public Welfare Committee Manigam Lar.
Pertinently the VC SKUAST-K Prof Tej Pratab had visited Benihama recently and inspected the proposed site for the construction of Faculty of Forestry College. The locals said the VC had denied the rumour that the Faculty of Forestry is being shifted from Benhama Lar to Wagoora Sopore.
"Some vested interests were responsible for delay in starting of construction work for the Faculty of Forestry here. The stay on the construction of the college will be vacated soon and subsequently construction will commence,” the VC had stated.
Government had transferred over 1100 kanals of land to SKUAST-K for construction of the Faculty of Forestry at Benihama.
