CRPF bunker at Padshahi Bagh bund hinders public movement
ABID HAFIZ
Srinagar, Apr 16: At a time when Srinagar is witnessing removal of CRPF bunkers, this one near the bridge connecting Jawahar Nagar with Padshahi Bagh continues to hinder public movement.
The locals expressed their helplessness by not daring to protest against the removal of the paramilitary bunker. “The bunker has been here for the past over ten years and is the main reason behind traffic jams that have become a norm for now. No one has ever lodged a complaint on this front,” said Farooq Ahmad, a local.
The road leading from Padshahi Bagh to Ram Bagh is a main route for tippers to venture into the City. The never ending line of tippers in the night hours adds to the woes of the locals as it gives them sleepless nights. “The traffic becomes more irritating during nocturnal hours by creating incessant noise of honking horns,” Farooq added.
Abdul Rashid, a tipper driver, accused the CPRF of risking drive on the road.
“Given the narrow space we have to drive so cautiously that even a millimeter of difference can hit the roadside bunkers, which ultimately can prove deadly for we people” he added.
When contacted PRO, CRPF, Sudhir Kumar refused to comment on the issue saying he was out of station.
