Shift Kashir channel to Valley or face agitation: TPUF
GK NEWS NETWORK
Srinagar, Apr 16: Demanding immediate shifting of Kashir Channel to Kashmir, the Television Professionals United Forum (TPUF) on Monday threatened to intensify its movement in pursuit of their demand.
Addressing a press conference here, Chairman TPUF, Zameer Ashai said, “stationing of Kashir Channel in New Delhi was against the interests of Kashmiri artists.”
“Promises and commitments made by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and his predecessor
Atal Bihari Vajpayee about shifting of the Channel (to Kashmir) have proved hoax. Vested interests in bureaucratic circles of New Delhi were creating roadblocks in shifting of the Channel,” Ashai alleged.
“Come what may, we will not behave as mute spectators to this gross injustice and we would continue our battle for the shifting of Kashir Channel to the Valley. Non-state producers were mutilating the identity of Kashmiri culture through their programmes. Kashmiri producers are getting raw deal in getting programmes,” he said.
“We were promised that locals would get 75 percent programmes in DD Kashir. But it has also proven hoax as non-local production houses are getting lion’s share in programmes,” he said.
