Trader fined Rs 6500 for selling chewing gum without MPR
Srinagar, Apr 16: A trader at Batamaloo has been fined Rs 6500 for selling chewing gum without MRP, an official handout said.
“The field executives of Legal Metrology department under the supervision of Dy Controller (Enforcement) conducted inspection of different markets of Srinagar and booked a number of traders,” it said
“In an instance at main bazaar Batamalloo, a retail dealer had offered for sale the chewing gums in packaged form which were without adequate labeling. Moreover, several brands of confectionery items were found expired and without the address of packer/manufacturer,” the handout added.
The department has “requested people lodge complaints against the unscrupulous traders on the phone Nos 0194-2310753/0194-2310853.”
