Srinagar Apr 17: Police have detained three youth in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on the charges of putting up posters asking Sarpanchs and Panchs to resign. However, family members of the detained youth claimed that their wards are innocent and have demanded their immediate release.    
 “Policemen called our wards to Police Station Kakapora and detained them. They are not even remotely connected with militancy. Police are trying to implicate them,” family members of the detained youth told Greater Kashmir.       
 Superintendent of Police, Pulwama, Amit Kumar, said the police have picked up three boys and were ascertaining facts about them. “We have not registered any case against the trio yet. We have detained them for questioning,” the SP said and added that sustained questioning would decide whether these youth are involved or not.
 The police officer said that content in poster was intimidating. “We are trying to know whether these posters were put by militants or their over ground workers,” he added.
 He disclosed the Sarpanchs and Panchs have been assured security. “The army patrols are now staying in villages round the clock. The vehicles of SOG also carry out patrols in villages,” the SP added.
 Pertinently, posters had appeared in Pulwama and its adjoining areas a few days ago asking elected Sarpanchs and Panchs to submit their resignations forthwith.
