Wrong practice
This refers to the news report, 'Ayurvedic, Unani and ISD doctors prescribing allopathic drugs' (GK, April 11). Such practice is now seen as a routine by many ISM doctors not only in our state but throughout India. In our state around 200 doctors were appointed against the vacant posts of Asst. Surgeons in different allopathic hospitals, where the herbal medicine is neither available in hospitals nor in nearby drug stores. What then is the logic of keeping those doctors in such hospitals as Asst. Surgeons? The example of mal-prescription of antibiotics by some ISM doctor can not be denied. The news story, however, does not mention those Allopathic doctors who’re prescribing the Herbal preparations to their patients in their routine practice, mainly for the diseases like kidney stones, hepatitis, sexual and gyane problems. What do allopathic doctors know about these herbal preparations? All ISM practitioners should strictly adhere to their own pathy.
