Forest Deptt organizes awareness programme

Bandipora, Apr 18: Forest Department today organized an awareness programme on afforestation here at Aloosa village.
On the occasion, the Department planted thousands of trees of different species under the centrally sponsored Compensatory Afforestation Fund Management and Planning Authority (CAMPA) scheme.
DFO Bandipora Muhammad Maqbool, who was the chief guest of the function, said the programme was conducted to publicize the department's efforts to aware people about importance of forest and its resources.
He said people living in the vicinity of reserve forests were selected for the programme.
“We have planted about 95,000 tress of various species in a closure of about 45 hecatres of land under the CAMPA. The department will adopt other two spots in Aythmulla and Panar under the same scheme,” he said.
Among others Range Officer Khuihaama Range Abdul Hamed and other officers besides Principal and Staff of Government Higher Secondary School Aloosa, locals and students of different schools participated in the day long programme.
