Media-XI beat Young Media-XI by 2 wkts
IZHAR WANI MEMORIAL T20 MATCH
Srinagar, Apr 18: In memory of the prominent journalist of Kashmir, late Izhar Wani, a friendly T20 match was organized by the media fraternity of valley between Media-XI and Young Media-XI at Polo ground here on Wednesday.
Media-XI won the toss and decided to field first. Batting first, Young Media-XI managed to score 125 runs in allotted 20 overs. Nissar Hafiz was the highest scorer for them with 58 runs. He played shots all around the ground courting cheers from spectators. His shot selection was impeccable. In reply, Media XI led by Farooq Khan achieved required target for the loss of eight wickets in 19 overs with one over in spare. Farooq Shah and Nisar Ahmed were adjudged as man of the match.
The speakers highlighted the contribution of Izhar Wani in the field of journalism and described him as a reporter at par excellence. Izhar did a commendable job during his professional career, the speakers said, adding that his death created a void in the field of Journalism in Valley which is difficult to fill.
