'World Cup win changed everyone's life'
New Delhi, Apr 1: World Cup hero Yuvraj Singh, who is recovering after his treatment in a US hospital for a rare germ cell cancer, shared his memories of the tournament on the occasion of the first anniversary of the coveted title.
As Team India set to complete one year as ODI World Champions on Monday, Yuvraj has posted his thoughts on video on his twitter account.
Yuvraj has posted 9 minutes and 4 seconds long video for his fans. Watch Yuvraj's full message
"All you can remember is flying colours of the flag, Wankhede stadium in joy and an Indian dream coming to reality. It was a great moment in history because winning the World Cup was everything to us especially to Sachin Tendulkar it meant everything. That was the expectation and winning the man-of-the-tournament, couldn't ask for more," Yuvraj said in the video.
"I couldn't ask for anything more. I didn't expect myself to play as well as I did in the World Cup. I was coming with not great form and I wasn't timing the ball how I wanted to," he said.
"In my tough times I spoke to Sachin about my issues with batting and form and fitness and he always told me one thing that you will matter when it matters the most. That is a very special thought, it remains with me.
"Zaheer Khan, Zak we call, told me in Bangladesh before the World Cup about me doing something special in the World Cup. That time I was going through a bad wrist injury, so yeah, special times with special team-mates," Yuvraj Singh said in his video.
