CS,DGP among 5 to get Excellence Award

Jammu, Apr 19: Chief Secretary Madhav Lal and Director General of Police Kuldeep Khoda are among five officers of Jammu and Kashmir selected for Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration for the year 2011-12.
Well informed sources told Greater Kashmir that the state government was informed this evening that five officers from the J&K have been selected for the award to be conferred on them by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh during Civil Service Day celebrations in New Delhi on April 21.
Besides CS and DGP, the selected officers include Principal Secretary to Chief Minister BB Vayas, Chief Electoral Officer BR Sharma and Special Secretary to Chief Secretary RK Verma.
The officers have been selected for their contribution for successful holding of panchayat elections after a gap of more than 30 years in the state, sources said, adding that the Central government has recognized the efforts of the state administration in devolution of powers at the grass root level.
