Rajendra Takes Stock Of Arrangements
Jammu, Apr 19: Jammu Marathon “Run for Fun” being held in Jammu city is all set to take off on April, 22nd. People’s participation at a large scale is expected in the run.
This was disclosed by Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Armed/L&O, K. Rajendra Kumar while taking stock of the arrangements in a meeting held at Armed Police Headquarters here today.The meeting, under the chairmanship of ADGP, was attended by various senior police officers and sports personalities.
Addressing the meeting, Rajendra said that the event has attracted public attention and various educational institutions, sports lovers, senior citizens, bar association and traders unions have requested for their participation in the run. He said that the aim to organise such events by Jammu and Kashmir Police under its Civic Action Programme, is to bring health awareness among the masses, besides developing a team spirit.
The ADGP said that the event is first of its kind in Jammu and the people from all walks of life including children and senior citizens would be participating in the run. Having different categories, the Run would start from Gulshan Ground, and return from different destinations. Marathon open category would start its Run with first flag off ceremony at 5.30 a.m. and return after covering a distance of 42 Kms. upto Nagrota bridge via Sidhra. Half Marathon category for males would have to run a distance of 21.5 kms. which would start at 6 a.m. from the venue.
Similarly senior citizens category and under 16 boys and girls would start their run from the venue and cover a distance of 4 and 12 kms. respectively, the ADGP added.
The meeting was told that all arrangements for the event have already been finalised. The ADGP stressed upon the officers to coordinate with each other and make the event a success. He said that Yoga and fitness demonstration, orchestra, cultural programme, band display, musical chair and spoon race would be the main attractions of event.
