Santosh Trophy trials from Saturday

Srinagar, Apr 19: The J&K Football Association is going to conduct selection trials for Santosh trophy at Polo ground here from April 21 to 23.
For the trials, the JKFA has short listed 60 players from all over State and the final squad would be selected among them during three day trials. The trials will be held at 9AM.
The short list is dominated by Forest-XI that has got 14 players selected in first 60 probable while as JK Bank has got nine players in it. JK police has got six while JKPDC has got eight. Food and Supplies has got four while AG office has two. The top two private clubs of State, Iqbal Sports and Maharaja Sports have got four players each selected in initial 60 probable. From Jammu eight players will be participating in trials.
The Santosh trophy for national football championship is scheduled to be held in Traphu Cuttack Odhissa from May 10. JK would be playing its first match against Arunachal Pradesh on May 13 and second on May 15 against Maharashtra.
The Association has appointed JK Police coach, Ranjit Singh as the coach of team while first International footballer of State Muhammad Shafi Nari has been appointed as manager. Ashiq Hussain has been appointed as Physiotherapist. After the 3-day trials selected players will undergo through 15-day coaching camp.
Giving details JKFA spokesperson said, “We have done every care to select deserving players and that is itself reflected in the list which includes all the top sides of State. Players have been selected on the basis of their performance in var4iuos events held across State”.
“We are hopeful the best among the lot would be selected for State team that will represent JK in the national championship,” he added.
