Legislators want local bodies to remain powerless: Sharma
GK NEWS NETWORK
Kotranka (Rajouri), Apr 21: Senior Congress leader and Member Parliament Madan Lal Sharma on Saturday said legislators of all the political parties, including Congress, were conspiring to ensure that the local bodies are left powerless.
“All the legislators including those from the Congress are against the empowerment of Panchayats in the state as they (legislators) fear that they would lose their power and control in their respective areas”, Sharma, said while addressing a public meeting here.
He said elected Sarpanchs and Panchs were facing a major conspiracy against them by none other than the legislators from all the political parties. However, he said that Congress as a party was always in favour of the empowerment of people through Panchayati Raj institutions.
