NC to start media cell for better relations: Tanvir Sadiq
Party’s young spokesman aspires to copy Abdullah footsteps
GK CITY CORRESPONDENT
Srinagar, Apr 21: National Conference’s recently appointed spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq on Saturday said for better relations with the Fourth Estate, the NC would soon start a “full fledged” media cell adding that he was party’s “certified voice.”
In his first media interaction, though informal at a luncheon he hosted at Silver Star on the City outskirts, Sadiq while responding to queries said: “We look ahead for better relations between the media and our party.”
“This meeting is the beginning of many more such interactions with the media because we are starting a full-fledged state -of-the-art media cell, which will be available for any queries or comments by the media fraternity. Though it will take sometime but we’re at it,” he said adding Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was keen at this development.
In his selectively chosen words, Sadiq said: “Anything that comes from me may be taken as official party statement. What others say may be taken as their individual statement.”
However, in the same breath he quickly added: “Even though my learnt senior colleagues in the party are much more seasoned and experienced and have an eye on the happenings around. But since the post I hold aims at officially expressing the party views, so this needs to be taken into consideration.”
The bachelor in his early 30’s, who was cautious in replies, couldn’t escape queries that if he had kept his hair grey to copy his party President and Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah.
“Basically, this (grey) hair is our hereditary. Same was true for my father as well... But yes if it comes to style, I would love to copy our president (Omar Abdullah) on every step and feel proud of it,” Sadiq, the son of veteran politician late Sadiq Ali, said.
A techie by qualification, Tanvir Sadiq, who has also remained a SMC Corporator said: “Love for the party (NC) runs in my blood.” “And I won’t shy to give even the last drop of it for NC,” he said.
A old City resident, Sadiq said, dispelled the notion that Shaher-e-Khaas was being ignored in development. “Our party is trying to give the best to the City,” he said.
