‘Probe promotion of foresters under SRO-335’

Srinagar, Apr 22: Alleging that proper verification of certificates and other criteria had not been adhered in promotion of foresters under SRO-335, a delegation of employees from the forest department Sunday urged upon concerned authorities to probe all the promotions made under the ordinance.
“Several forest guards were promoted as foresters (graduation quota) under the SRO-335 during last 22-years. While the department was supposed to verify certificates from the universities which the benefited lot claimed to have owned but the department has failed to do so and we don’t know whether the certificates are genuine or fake,” the delegation said.
“There is an established criterion for undergoing further studies and in this case pursuing graduation. The government needs to verify whether those promoted as foresters have availed the leave as per the norms.” In case of those who claimed to have passed the graduation level examination through private institutes, they said, government needs to ascertain whether the promoted foresters availed leave during the examination time.  (KNS)
