6 gamblers held: Police

Srinagar, Apr 22: Police on Sunday claimed to have arrested six gamblers from Lawaypora area on the city outskirts.
According to SDPO West Srinagar, Dr Shailendra Mishra, police acted on a tip-off and raided venues near Layawpora where the card game was going on and stake money of Rs 5000 and two packets of playing cards were recovered. Two vehicles of gamblers were seized for the place of occurrence.
Dr Shailendra said an FIR Vide No: 124/2012 under section 13 Gambling Act has been registered in Police Station Parimpora.
The SDPO said the drive against gambling would continue.
