Devbugh Tangmarg Playground craves for Govt attention
MANSOOR PARY
Tangmarg, Apr 23: Once the only and the biggest playground in the whole area of Tangmarg, has been now been reduced to a small piece of land due to the encroachments from all sides by the local farmers.
At present this playground is in pathetic and dilapidated condition due to official negligence. The playfield caters to the playing needs from all over the Tangmarg area like Pandithpora, Devbugh, Katjun, Habilgam, Mulgam, Katibugh, Mughama,Yaal, Chak etc.
“We have approached the concerned local MLA and Agriculture Minister Gh. Hasan Mir. He has developed a lot of playgrounds in his constituency at those places were there was no land available for that purpose, but here in our village we have sufficient land far a playfield. The only thing it needs is development and maintenance,” said a local cricketer wishing not to be named.
“He did gave us assurance many times that this playground will be developed, but we did not see any progress,” he said.
The field that is the lap of Govt. Boys High School Devbugh according to locals as per revenue records has got so much of land that if Government is serious a mini stadium could be built here.
“Not only authorities but locals are also responsible for this pathetic condition of the ground because it has been encroached from all sides. But the responsibility lies on the Government to snatch back this grabbed land from farmers, if they have to use force for it,” said another local player.
The local players have requested to the higher authorities to maintain this playfield as soon as possible there by giving youngsters chance to flaunt their skills.
