Goni inaugurates JKCA U–19 camp at Jammu
Jammu, Apr 23: The Under-19 cricket camp for short listing the probable for the forthcoming BCCI tournaments started at GGM Science College Cricket Ground, here on Monday.
The camp which is being attended by young cricketers of Jammu province was formally inaugurated by Chairman, JKCA, Muhammad Aslam Goni, in presence of office bearers, working committee members, selectors and coaches of JKCA.
In all 142 boys reported on the first day of the camp to undergo specialized cricket training under the supervision of BCCI qualified coaches Varinder Sharma (SAI), Salim Ur Rehman, Suresh Singh.
The Under-16 and Under-14 boys short listed recently shall also continue to train alongside the Under-19 cricketers.
Speaking on the occasion JKCA Chairman Aslam Goni called upon the boys to remain focused and disciplined during the camp.
He instructed the coaches and selectors to discharge their duties in the most impartial manner so that talented and meritorious boys get their due and make it to the state team. Goni said that the camps have been started on the instructions of JKCA President Dr. Farooq Abdhullah, in keeping with his firm opinion that cricket activities should not suffer due to recent unfortunate happening in JKCA. Goni said that similar camps shall also be organized in Kashmir shortly.
Goni on this occasion also said that it was for the first time JKCA started cricket nursery classes for under-12 cricketers with the idea to catch them young so that their technique and talent can be channelized right at the beginning of the sports career.
The others who were present on the occasion include, Hardev Singh Jamwal, Joint Secretary, JKCA, Jammu wing, SS. Bali, Budh Dev Damral, Rohit Malhotra, ML. Chouhan, Prithvi Vaid, Dr. Vinod Bakshi, Ranjeet Kalra, (Working Committee Members), Ashok Singh, Shahid Parvez (Ranji Trophy Selectors), Randhir Singh Jamwal, Surinder Singh Bagal, (Selector U-19), Ashok Dutta, Selector U-22, Ashwani Gupta, Varinder Sharma, Suresh Singh, Salim Ur Rehman.
