Santosh Trophy trials conclude
Srinagar, Apr 23: The three-day Santosh trophy selection trials conducted by J&K Football Association concluded at Polo ground here on Monday.
In the trials out of 60 probable selected, only 50 footballers from all over Valley participated. Among the 50 probable, selectors have short listed 24 for the 15-day coaching camp that will start at same venue from Tuesday. The Association will announce list of selected players before the start of coaching camp.
The Santosh trophy for national football championship is scheduled to be held in Traphu Cuttack Odhissa from May 10. JK would be playing its first match against Arunachal Pradesh on May 13 and the second on May 15 against Maharashtra.
The Association has appointed JK Police coach, Ranjit Singh, as the coach of team while first International footballer of State Muhammad Shafi Nari has been appointed as manager. Ashiq Hussain has been appointed as Physiotherapist.
Giving details JKFA spokesperson said, “We have done every care to select deserving players. The list would be announced on Tuesday before start of the coaching camp”.
“The main important part of short listed 24 players is that it includes 10 newcomers who will be first time playing in Santosh Trophy,” he added.
