Srinagar, Apr 23: Civil Society Forum Kashmir in collaboration with Traffic Police, NCC and NSS wing of Amar Singh College on Monday kick-started a traffic awareness campaign in the City.
In this awareness campaign, student volunteers will be posted at various “traffic points” in the City.
“The volunteers will try to aware people on issues like reservation of seats for women in passenger vehicles, use of helmets, rash driving, use of seat belts etc,” District Development Commissioner (DDC) Srinagar, Baseer Khan said while addressing a gathering.
He said that this campaign would continue for a fortnight and asked the volunteers to be the “symbol of awareness on the roads”.
“For the first three days the special drive will focus on awareness about reservation of seats for women,” he added.
The drive was flagged off from Amar Singh College by the DDC.
The other prominent present on the occasion included DIG Traffic Vijay Kumar, SP Traffic Haseeb Ur Rehman and  Principal Amar Singh College Prof Zahoor Ahmed Chatt.
Meanwhile, the Civil Society Forum Kashmir has appealed the general public to support the cause and cooperate in spreading awareness on the issue of traffic management in Srinagar.
