Burglars on prowl in Chanapora
Residents appeal IGP, SSP for action
Srinagar, Apr 24: Burglars seem to have a free day in Chanapora area of Srinagar in the wake of alleged police inaction despite numerous complaints by the residents.
A delegation from Housing Colony Chanapora said burglars struck several shops in the colony in broad daylight about a week ago, decamping with cash and valuables worth lakhs of rupees. The victims approached police but no one has been arrested till now.
Emboldened by the police inaction, burglars again struck last night, this time, targeting several houses besides shops, including a famous bakery shop, decamping with cash and valuables worth lakhs of rupees.
The situation has become so precarious that shopkeepers are now afraid of leaving their shops unattended even for few minutes to answer nature’s call.
The local residents have appealed the police higher ups including SSP Srinagar and IGP Kashmir to intervene in the matter and relieve them of the problem.
