Bandipora produces 98,000 ton milk

Bandipora, Apr 25: As a result of concerted efforts put in by the Animal Husbandry department, the daily milk production of this district has gone up to 98,000 ton while the breeding population reached to 67,000 cows including 63 percent cross bred.
This was stated at a function here today with District Development Commissioner, Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Lone in chair, an official statement said.
The function was organized to select one widow destitute through draw of lots in order to provide her a cow costing Rs. 30,000 free of cost for earning purpose under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY). One each cow in Hajin, Sumbal, Bandipora, Gurez and Tulail block is being provided to such a deserving under the scheme.
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Bandipora, District Social Welfare Officer, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Sarpanchs and destitute were present.
