Srinagar Apr 26: Residents of Shahampora, Jabgaripora Nowhatta and adjacent localities in Shaher-e-Khaas up in arms against the authorities for “failing to provide them proper water supply.”
The residents said: “The taps are running almost dry for the past twelve to fifteen days, due to which we are gasping for water.”
A delegation from the area told Greater Kashmir that: “The women folk fetch water from the adjacent areas for cooking and other purposes… We are gasping for the water.”
“Sometimes we don’t have water to drink than to talk of it for washing and other purposes,” said Rouf Ahmad Sheikh, a local.
He said though the colony gets water supply for a maximum of an hour or so during the day, that too remains unscheduled.
The inhabitants said the situation has become extremely difficult these days.
The residents appealed to the Executive Engineer, Shafat Hussain Qadeemi to look into the matter.
