Flyover problems

 This refers to the concerns raised by Rafiq Khan in his piece in GK Magazine about the proposed flyover. His assertion that pollution levels will increase is wrong. Without traffic on the flyover, the idling time of vehicles is going to get reduced, which will in turn lower the gas emission. And Srinagar being in Zone 5 is prone to earthquakes. The design of this flyover has been approved by IIT, and IIT’s are no less an institution who will not consider this aspect. Rest of the points raised by him need to be seriously considered. Regarding alternate route from Batmaloo, some surveys were done by R&B people, but due to its huge compensation cost, the project was shelved.
