Pension cases
This refers to the article “Prompt settlement” appeared in Greater Kashmir Dated 23rd April 2012 regarding measures taken by the Accountant General J&K for speedy settlement of pension cases. The initiative taken by the A.G in establishing Public Relation Office has been highly appreciated by the retirees. Requisite information is provided by P.R.O to each and every person visiting the said office. On my visit to the A.G’s office to enquire about my pension case the P.R.O guided me well. There can be mistakes in the pension papers which need to be set right by the Departments concerned. Shortcomings in the pension cases can be the main cause impeding the prompt settlement. As per standing instructions the pension cases are required to be submitted to the A.G's office six months in advance of actual date of retirement, to enable these being settled well in time and necessary authorities made over to the pensioners ahead of their retirement. The departmental officers should be made accountable to adhere to the provisions laid down in the rules. I subscribe to the suggestions made by Master Habib Ullah Dar regarding appointment of P.R.Os.
