Srinagar to host 4th Int’l Buyer-Seller Meet

Srinagar, Apr 27: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry will organize 4thInternational Buyer Seller Meet at SKICC, here, starting from May 14.
Around 100 potential buyers from across the world are expected to participate in the three-day event.
President KCCI Abdul Hameed Punjabi confirmed that the chamber has sent invitations to the potential buyers across the world and “we expect around 100 will participate in the event.”
Giving details, Punjabi said: “A good number of stalls exhibiting various export oriented items including Carpet, Wood Carving, Papier Machie, Chain Stitch, Rugs, Crewel, etc, will be put in place.”
He said Kashmir Handicrafts has always proved to be the “backbone” of the state economy and a source of sustenance for the people of the Valley.
“As an endeavor to boost the export of Kashmir Handicrafts for better returns, the Chamber has been regularly facilitating participation of Valley-based handicraft producers/dealers in various fairs, exhibitions etc organized at International level in various countries of the World from time to time.”
Punjabi said: “The chamber has also been organizing Buyer Seller Meets annually for the past three years in order to make it easier for the valley based Handicraft producers/dealers to establish direct contacts with foreign buyers hundreds of whom are invited to such Meets.”
“On the basis of past experience about such meets, we expect the event will help boost export business a great deal. The KCCI is determined to carry on its efforts to see the Valley Handicraft business growing on sustained basis.”
Meanwhile, interested parties have been asked approach the KCCI office for booking the stalls to display their products. The interested parties can approach the chamber office by or before May 7, 2012.
