4-lanning of Sgr-Jmu highway in Islamabad underway: Bhalla

Jammu, Apr 2: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla today informed the Legislative Assembly that the 4-lanning of Srinagar-Jammu highway in south Kashmir’s Islamabad (Anantnag) district from Ujroo (220kms) to Pujteng (256.90 kms) is under execution.
 Replying to a Calling Attention Notice of A R Veeri and Abdul Gaffar Sofi, the Minister said that in Homeshalli Bugh constituency, 11 villages, Kanjigund, Sursona, Shamsipora, Shole Wanpora, Turka Tachloo, Jablipora, Semthan, Subhanphari, Sangam, Naina Gubndi Baba Khalil and Hamzpora are coming under the alignment of 4-lanning of the Highway. An area measuring 1316 kanals 12 marlas is under acquisition in these villages, tentative awards have already been framed for all the 11 villages out of which final award has been issued in respect of 4 villages.
 He said 80% payment of compensation has been made in respect of villages Turka-Tachloo, Jablipora, Semthan, Subhanpahari, Sangam, Naina Gundi, Baba Khalil, Hamzapora and in respect of remaining 3 villages namely Sursona, Sholewanpora and Shamsipora, 100% payment stands already made.
 He said in respect of village Semthan the payment is under process. However, in respect of village Kanjigund the interested persons have declined to receive the compensation on the grounds that rates offered by the collector are low.
