Bita Karatey hails Christof’s statement
Srinagar, Apr 2: The chairman of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front ( R) Farooq Ahmad Dar alias Bita Karatey on Monday hailed the UN Special Rapporteur’s Christof Heyns statement on revocation of controversial Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), Disturbed Area Act (DAA) and Public Safety Act (PSA) in Jammu and Kashmir, describing it as just and realistic.
In a statement today, Karatey alleged that the establishment of NCTC was a new-found weapon to perpetrate human rights violations. He appealed to the international human rights organizations and justice loving people to raise their voice against this draconian law.
Meanwhile, Karatey has expressed serious concern over the awarding of two-year imprisonment sentence to the Kashmir American Council chairman Ghulam Nabi Fai by a US Court, terming it unfortunate. “Dr Fai has played a vital role in highlighting the Kashmir issue at international level. He has always been representing the Kashmiris’ peaceful and violence-free struggle in other countries. Kashmiris will not be overawed by such tactics,” he said.
