GOC conducts army-civilian interaction at Tangdhar

Srinagar, Apr 2: Army on Monday said that it conducted an army-civilian interactive forum under the banner “Awami Sunwai” in the frontier town of Tangdhar.
“The interactive session was conducted by Lt Gen SA Hasnain, GOC 15 Corps along with senior civil officials of Tangdhar. The General interacted with the local populace of the area and the session was attended by prominent personalities including SDM, Tehsildar and Sarpanchs of Tangdhar,” army’s Srinagar based spokesman said in a statement.
He said the Awami Sunwai, an initiative of the Chinar Corps, has been a welcome and interactive method in addressing the socio-economic problem of the people in remote areas. The Army renewed its commitment of being the Awams Fauj.
“The civilians during the session brought out various problems being faced in the region. The representatives also praised the Army for its conduct, recognized the need for security to ensure development and recalled the large numbers of soldiers contributed from this small region,” the spokesman said.
“All problems were duly heard and assurance was given by the General to do everything in his power for the development of the region and giving them a better life. Further, the General praised the local civil administration for their whole hearted efforts in bringing various development project to the region and also assured the gathering that both civil administration and the Army will work together in bringing peace and prosperity to Tangdhar. The conduct of the Awami Sunwai, no doubt, will go a long way in reducing the socio-economic problem of the people of Kashmir and strengthening the bond between Awam and Army in Kashmir,” the spokesman claimed.
