Docs raise healthcare issues with Azad
Srinagar, Apr 5: A delegation of Doctors’ Association Kashmir (DAK) led by its president Dr Nisar ul Hassan called on Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Ghulam Nabi Azad, at his official residence here. The delegation raised various issues confronting the healthcare system in J&K, a DAK handout said.
The delegation briefed the union minister about the problems being faced by doctors while discharging duties in the turmoil-hit J&K. The delegation expressed concern over “frequent attacks on doctors and damage to the hospital property.” The doctors complained to the union minister against “their frequent illegal arrests by police.”
The delegation demanded that penal laws should be framed on the pattern Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat have promulgated to check attacks on doctors and damage to the hospital property. “The attack on doctors should be made non-bailable offence.” The delegation also complained against “practice of adhocism in the health department.”
Meanwhile, the DAK extended its invitation to the Union Minister for attending a function on Doctors’ Day. The delegation comprised Dr H Vaqar, Dr A G Dar, Dr Khalid Parveez, Dr Rashid Para, Dr Manzoor Larnu and Dr Iqbal Fateh Khan.
