Remembering Moulana Showkat
He had dedicated his life to a mission.May his soul rest in peace
TRIBUTE BY SUHAIB ASHRAF BHAT
Exactly a year ago, prominent religious figure and Chief of Jamiat Ahle Hadees Jammu & Kashmir Maulana Showkat Ahmad Shah was entering the Ahlihadees masjid to Deliver Friday sermon in the Maisuma area of the city adjacent to ity centre Lal Chowk when the improvised explosive device (IED) went off on 8th April 2011. On the gate of Masjid Maulana lost his life.Shaheed Maulana Showkat was a popular regional leader and was known for the welfare work. He had dedicated his life for the wellbeing of the people of Kashmir. His death is a great loss for the people in Jammu & Kashmir.Violence against innocent persons cannot be justified on any grounds. Attacks on Masjids and killing Islamic scholars while they are engaged in prayers is extremely repugnant. One who killed innocent human being kills the whole humanity. The assassination of Maulana Showkat was extremely brutal. This was the worst form of terrorism and people behind such a heinous act cannot be described
as humans. The assassination of Shaheed Moulana Showkat Ahmad Shah had exposed our character. Those who were against him when alive were the first to praise him when dead. Those who would never tolerate to pray after him now describe him as a great martyr and for those to whom Moulana was a culprit, now are describing him to have secured a greatest place in Jannat- ul firdous.Moulana was really the true son of soil. He will always be remembered as Shaheed Itehad-e- Milat Faqeed ul Islam.
May his soul rest in peace.
Ameen.
