Airport taxi operators hail Omar
‘CM has safeguarded our livelihoods’
Srinagar, Aug 9: Airport Taxi Operators’ Association today hailed Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah for what they said his prompt action on their appeal against operation of radio taxis in the airport. The operators said the CM has taken note of the media reports which had highlighted our plight and “illegal encroachment” of radio taxis in the airport which had direct bearing on “our livelihoods.”
“The CM by taking note of the media reports and stopping the radio taxis from operating in the airport has addressed our genuine problem. We hail the CM for his prompt action,” the association today said in a statement. They said they had come to know that the CM had directed officials not to allow radio taxis to snatch the livelihood of taxi drivers at Airport here.
“We are thankful to the CM who has safeguarded our livelihood by directing radio taxis owners not to venture in our domain,” spokesperson of Taxi drivers association said.
He said: “We are hopeful that in future also, CM will continue to help us and solve our issues.”
Pertinently, yesterday the Taxi Transport Association of Airport had accused the Radio Taxi operators of snatching their livelihood by illegally occupying the airport taxi stand. They had sought intervention of Chief Minister in the matter.
