New Delhi’s rejection vindicated our stand: Separatists

INTERLOCUTORS’ REPORT

ZAHID MAQBOOL

Srinagar, Aug 9: Reacting to the announcement of Minister of State for Home Jitendra Singh that the Centre had no plans to implement the interlocutors’ recommendations on Kashmir, both separatist and mainstream camps on Thursday claimed that it had vindicated the stand of those who opposed the panel.
Reacting to the development Chairman of Hurriyat Conference (M), Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, said: “We have already termed it (interlocutors’ report) a pack of garbage. Our stand over their report and recommendations has been vindicated as it has been dumped by the Government of India as well.” The spokesman of Hurriyat Conference (G) Ayaz Akbar said: “They just wanted to hoodwink the international community. All these reports and sermons on Kashmir are misleading. In 2010 they promised a lot to Kashmiris. They did so to ensure that protests die down nothing happened after that.”
The Chairman of JKLF (H) Javed Ahmed Mir said: “They tried to project political problem as administrative problem.”
Taking a dig at New Delhi for dumping of the report, spokesperson of ruling National Conference, Tanvir Sadiq said: “It has proved to be an exited exercise in futility. Stake holders cannot hide behind the bushes anymore.”
Main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), spokesperson, Naeem Akhtar said that dumping of interlocutors report by New Delhi vindicated the stand of those who opposed it, “A lot of literature has been generated over Kashmir solution. There is a need of will. But they are making announcements and doing nothing,” he added.
