‘Enemies trying to divide Kashmiris in the name of Maslaks’
Yasin Malik Addresses Public Gathering At Tral, Gets Warm Reception
Srinagar, Aug 10: The chairman of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front Muhammad Yasin Malik Friday said that “the enemies of freedom movement are trying to divide Kashmiris in the name of Maslaks to deflect their attention from the cherished cause of freedom.”
“But we will have to stand firm against all these conspiracies and maintain unity at all costs to foil the nefarious designs of the enemy,” said Malik while addressing a public gathering at Tral, in Pulwama district of south Kashmir.
Malik was accorded a warm welcome on his arrival and taken to the Central Chowk of Tral in a procession. Women showered sweets and flowers at the procession and raised slogans in favour of freedom and martyrs.
“Kashmiris are freedom lovers and they want every nation to taste and enjoy freedom but a nation that has snatched our freedom, which has subjugated us and oppressed our tiny poor nation, should realize that it has no right to do so. For this very purpose Kashmiris living across the globe observe 15th August as a black day. Kashmiris through their peaceful protest, strike and other programs on this day try to remind New Delhi and the world that they (Kashmiris) still are bleeding and resolving this issue is in the favour of peace, brotherhood, development and stability of the world,” he said, adding “the day will be observed as a black day this year too and Kashmiris’ by observing complete shutdown on the day will reiterate their commitment towards the freedom struggle.”
Emphasizing on the need of unity and tolerance Yasin Malik said, “Kashmiris are wishing to taste the blessings of freedom desire for peace and prosperity of the world. Who will be more familiar with the taste of freedom and the bitterness of slavery than Kashmiri nation that has been sacrificing and striving for freedom for last six decades?”
“In 1947, the Indian sub continent got freedom from the British rule. India also got freedom on 15th August 1947. India had gained this freedom after enormous sacrifices and struggle. For getting freedom the Indian nation sacrificed its thousands of men, women and tolerated the torture and oppression at the hands of British. Natural feelings of this struggle should have been enough for the Indian nation and its leadership for recognizing and honoring the freedom of other nations. New Delhi should have been a torchbearer of freedom and champion of human rights but sadly it did not happen so. Only few days after getting its freedom Indian nation overpowered a tiny nation called Kashmir and with its military might and snatched its freedom and subjugated its people. New Delhi subjected Kashmiris to same oppression, tyranny and inhuman treatment that was being done to her by British and that too without any fear or shame,” Malik said, adding that “when Kashmiris resisted this forced domination New Delhi went to United Nations and promised before the whole world that Kashmiris will be provided a chance to choose their fate. Even India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru promised the same in India Parliament and Lal Chowk Srinagar while addressing people. But when Kashmiris tried to remind India of its promises they were and are subjected to worst kind of oppression. From the hanging of Shaheed Baba-I-Qoum Muhammad Maqbool Butt at Tihar Jail in 1984 to the martyrdom of Shaheed Sheikh Abdul Aziz in 2008 and also the martyrdom of our lakhs of people bear a testimony to this historical fact.”
Yasin read out the resolution passed unanimously by all sects about forging unity among Kashmiris and the people by raising Takbeer passed it with one voice.
Leaders who accompanied Yasin Malik to Tral included Adv. Bashir A Butt, Showkat A Bakhshi, M Zaman Mir, Javed Ahmad Zargar, Mushtaq Ajmal ,Sheikh Ab Rashid.
