2 killed,10 injured in 5 road accidents
Jammu, Aug 10: Atleast two persons were killed and 10 others were injured in separate road accidents across Jammu province, police said.
They said that a youth was killed while another was injured when the motorcycle they were riding collided with a bus on Jammu-Udhampur highway near Kali Mata Mandir area falling under police station Rehmbal of tehsil Udhampur.
Duo sustained injuries, one of them critically and were rushed to district hospital Udhampur by police. After administering them first aid treatment, the doctors at Udhampur hospital shifted one of the injured to Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu but the victim died on way to Jammu.
The deceased has been identified as Jugal Sharma resident of Garnai, Udhampur while the injured has been identified as Hitesh Khajuria (16) resident of Garnai, Udhampur.
In yet another accident the driver of GREF department was killed when the tipper, he was driving, plunged into gorge on Poonch-Jammu highway in tehsil Noushera.
“When the tipper reached in Dandesar area of tehsil Noushera along Jammu-Poonch Highway, the driver lost control and the tipper plunged into gorge resulting into on spot death of the driver” sources said.
The locals along with GREF employees evacuated the body of driver from the gorge and shifted it to sub district hospital Noushera. The deceased has been identified as Sukhdev Singh resident of Terian Punjab.
Moreover seven persons were injured in two separate accidents on highway in tehsil Udhampur.
Sources said that four persons were injured in head-on collision between a Tavera vehicle and a truck coming from opposite directions in Tamatar Morh area of Kud.
All the injured were shifted to community health center Cheneni but after administering them first aid, all of them were shifted to district hospital Udhampur.
The injured have been identified as Mohinder Singh and Rajinder Singh residents of Gurdaspur Punjab, Sureshta resident of Avantipora Srinagar and Shahid resident of Srinagar.
Meanwhile three persons were injured when the Maruti car, in which they were traveling, collided with a Bolera vehicle coming from opposite direction near Chopra shop of tehisl Udhampur.
The injured were shifted to district hospital Udhampur and have been identified as Anil Verma his wife, Puran Verma and Surekha Verma residents of Rehari colony Jammu.
Moreover two persons were injured when a truck rolled down in Dharamsal area of tehsil Cheneni at around 4:30 AM of Friday morning.
The injured were rushed to district hospital Udhampur and have been identified as Lali Kumar (43) and Charanjeet Singh (58) residents of Punjab.
