Children hospital gets hi-tech ventilators
Srinagar, Aug 10: Three new state-of-art ventilators were Friday installed at Valley’s sole children hospital at Sonawar in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
A hospital spokesman said with this the number of ventilators at the NICU has risen to ten.
“The Swedish ventilators have been bought at a cost of rupees fifteen lakhs each as against the approved cost of rupees twenty three lakhss each after negotiating with the company, thus saving the state exchequer the whopping amount of rupees twenty four lakhs,” said hospital Medical Superintendent, Dr Muneer Masoodi.
“In last two months,” Dr Masoodi said “the NICU of the hospital has been equipped with six Bubble CPAP ventilation systems, seventeen vital sign monitors and ten high-end radiant warmers with multi-sensors.”
Stating that extra care was being given to the infant patients,” Dr Masoodi said: “The disposable tubings and humidifiers are replaced with very new neonate put on ventilator to prevent cross infections.”
