Fixing responsibility
This refers to the article ''don't fix responsibility' by Dr. Rumana Makhdoomi. The writer deviated from the basic problem i.e. noise emanating from loudspeakers which was highlighted by Nayeem Akhtar. The other problems, like the kid ''Hafiz'' not knowing Urdu etc are completely different issues. Again problem of separate space for women in mosques is a separate issue. The problem is high decibel noise emanating from loudspeakers which needs to be addressed. We should address the issue of noise first without getting entangled in other issues. The people who are at the helm of such mosques are very reluctant to lower the pitch of loudspeakers. I hope some sense prevails on them. The sound above 80 decibels is harmful. Here we have deafening sound of more than 120 decibels coming from these loudspeakers, which is not only an irritant but extremely harmful for our ears as well.
