City to host Int'l conference on Spine Surgery

Srinagar, Aug 12: International Conference on Spine Surgery, ICS-2012, is being organized in Srinagar, from August 24, the event hosts said.
 “The conference is being organized by Association of Spine Surgeons of India in Collaboration with Spine Society of Europe and Orthopaedic Surgeons Association of Kashmir,” a spokesman said.
 He said the conference would be attended by reputed Spine Surgeons and Neurosurgeons of India and Europe.
 “Among the faculty are world renowned Spine and Neurosurgeons like Prof Marco  Teli from Germany, Prof Ciaran Bolger from Ireland, Prof Arvind Jayaswal Head Spine Surgery Department AIIMS, Prof S Rajasekaran President Indian Orthopaedic Association and President Association of Spine Surgeons of India and Hunterian Professor, Royal College of Surgeons of England, Dr Sajan Hegde Chief Spine Surgery Apollo Hospitals Chennai, Dr H S Chhabra Chief Spine Surgery Indian Spinal Injuries Centre N Delhi, Dr Shashank Kale Neurosurgeon AIIMS, Dr Gautam Zaveri Jaslok Hospital Mumbai, Dr Abhay Nene Consultant Spine Surgeon P D Hinduja Hospital Mumbai and Dr Saumajit Basu Park Clinic Kolkata,” he said.
 The conference is being organized by prominent Ortho Spine surgeons Dr Saheel Maajid and Dr Suhail Afzal, who are “current delegates of AOSpine International Asia Pacific, from Northern India.”
 “Prof Ghulam Rasool Mir, Prof Altaf Umar Ramzan of SKIMS and doctors from Hospital for Bone and Joint Surgery Barzulla including Prof Manzoor A Halwai, Dr Munir Farooq , Dr A R Badoo, Dr Khurshid A Kangoo and SKIMS Medical College Hospital Bemina medicos, Dr Naseer A Mir will actively participate in the scientific deliberations.”
 The 3-day conference, as per the hosts, is the first of its kind in the state and is “expected to raise the standard of Spine care in the state.”
