Baramulla, Aug 15: With the help of CCTV footages, J&K Bank branch TP Baramulla has solved many cases of “dishonest” use of ATM cards.
 Surprising the footages have revealed that in most of the cases the cards were “dishonestly” used by the people known to the complainants/card holders.
 According to sources, the branch had received several complaints from the ATM card holders complaining that their ATM cards had been used by some unknown person(s) without their knowledge and a huge amount of money had been withdrawn from their account.
 The complainants had expressed surprised how others had used their cards when as per their claim the cards had been in their own possession.
 Surprised over the events, several such persons whose ATM cards were used illegally approached the bank authorities to solve the mystery.
 Taking benefit of the modern technology, CCTV footage, the bank authorities retrieved all the information like date and time when the withdrawals were made.
 However, after seeing the footage, the complainants were stunned to see that their close relations, in some cases their children, had used the cards and withdrawn money.
 “In one case it was found that 14-year old daughter of a card holder had used her father’s card to withdraw Rs 40,000 without letting her father know,” bank authorities said.
 “Stunned by the findings the complainant withdrew his complaint” said Manager J &K bank TP Baramulla.
 In other incidents also, the money had been illegally withdrawn by the children of complainants.
 The bank authorities suggested that ATM card holders should take benefit of the SMS service of the bank. “The SMS service can help a customer to know about the deposits into and withdrawals from his/her account instantaneously,” they said.
