As Ramazan departs

We must introspect as to whether we have really bagged the blessings or not?

WORDS WITHIN

FIRDOUS SYED

The blessed time has almost moved away. We may have again failed to redeem ourselves fully, even though the limitless bounties of ‘the most gracious most merciful’ are up for grabs in this pious month; the real occasion for redemption of the body and soul.  What a shame; despite taught how to seek the blessings and glorify the most glorified, by the blessed Prophet SAW, we may have still failed to submit ourselves fully: “God whose limitless glory all [creatures] that are in the heavens and on earth extol, even the birds as they spread out their wings? Each [of them] knows indeed how to pray unto Him and to glorify Him”. In the fleeting moments, let us pray with tender hearts, moist eyes, and with full of realization that our fallings have badly let us down. Let us seek the real penance.
Before we seek a collective forgiveness from the most benevolent, let me first accept that due to my doings and undoing’s I have fully wronged myself, I have let down my people and disgraced myself; “There is no deity save Thee! Limitless art Thou in Thy glory! Verily, I have done wrong”. Oh Allah, Al-Ghaffaar, as a Nation, we seek your forgiveness, our continued hour of trail is due to our moral baseness. We have truly disgraced ourselves, and our downfall is of our own making. We invoke your limitless mercy, Oh merciful Allah, please forgive us and show us the real path. We accept, we deserve nothing but only a dismissal but since you are the most compassionate and encompassing, we hope you to be lenient and merciful with us. Oh Allah with all the humility we could command, we seek your mercy as you granted your blessed soul “And so We responded unto him and delivered him from [his] distress: for thus do We deliver all who have faith”.
The distressed souls and restive land, after a long hour of tribulation, are in search of a lasting peace. However genuine peace is not possible without a true resistance. In order to have pace and we wish peace to others as well, Oh Allah, As-Salaam, grant us the firm resolve, conviction and will to strive. For peace to prevail show us the path of real struggle that will only guide us towards the safety of ashore. We desire freedom. Yet freedom is achievable only once we are able to free ourselves from the tentacles of the material greed. Oh Allah, help us rise above ourselves and free us from the clutches of evil, selfishness and lust.  While we seek the protection of Al-Hafeez from the oppression of the oppressor, Oh Allah, please help us to alleviate our souls from the tyranny of the self.
The greatest virtue is faith and the worst predicament is faithlessness. Oh Allah, Al-Mu'min, please bestow the belief in us and most importantly in You. The utmost reward is hope, and the hopelessness is the cruelest punishment. Oh Allah save us from wilderness of despair, please bless us with a profound sense of optimism; we can also change.
We seek dignity. That can be obtained only through patience, restrain and by discovering the virtues of self-respect.  Oh Allah you are known to us as Al-Quddoos also, please bless us with the self-awakening. We ask for prosperity but are averse to hard work. Oh our Sustainer, we also call you Al-Baasit, please inculcate in us the dignity of labour.
Oh Allah the Al-Hakeem, our intellectuals are infatuated with the history, please grant them ability to vision tomorrow.  Our youth is driven by hate and revenge, please bless them a passion and turn them into a true men of resistance “[who] repel evil with good”. Our leaders have become numb and insensitive; please bless them with the feeling that could enable them to understand the trauma of their own.  OH Almighty you ordained us as one people; “And, verily, this community of yours is one single community, since I am the Sustainer of you all”. But our sectarian Mullah’s have destroyed the unity of faith “But they [who claim to follow you] have torn their unity wide asunder, piece by piece, each group delighting in [but] what they themselves possess [by way of tenets]”.  Please help us restore the unity of faith and practice as well.  Our young social activists are riddled with a dynamics of power and are unable to understand the unleashed power of self. Please help them create bigger ideas those can subsume all other destructive thoughts.  Oh Allah make us the people whom you rewarded as “O thou human being that hast attained to inner peace”.  And finally let us pray, “O my Lord, let my entry be by the gate of truth and honour and likewise my exit by the gate of truth and honour; and grant me from Thee an authority to aid (me)”.
