Begging menace
The increasing number of beggars in Kashmir valley from outside states is alarming. An average person is intercepted at least thrice a day by beggars in Srinagar city. The installation of modern traffic lights in the city has come as bonus to these beggars and a secure place for them to get their share. A day before I was astonished to see some foreign beggars being dropped by an Auto rickshaw outside a Masjid in Bagat, which for an average Kashmiri is unaffordable nowadays due to steep increase in auto fares. This shows their spending capacity and income. Immediate steps need to be taken by authorities to regulate their entry into the State.
