The day of Eid
Celebrate Eid the way it deserves to be celebrated
DR SHAH SHOWKAT
In Arabic, Eid means festival and fitr means breaking the fast. So Eid-ul-fitr is literally a festival for breaking the fast. Muslims throughout the world celebrate Eid-ul-fitr as a day of joy and thanksgiving to Allah that we completed the Ramadan fast by the grace of almighty Allah.
WHAT TO DO ON EID:
1. Wake up early: make sure you wake up early on Eid and pray Salat ul Fajr.
2. Take a bath:
3. Men should wear perfume or ittar.
4. Wear best and nicest clothes for Eid prayers
5. Eat some dates or sweets before leaving your home for Eid ul Fitr salaat
6. Pay Sadaqa Fitr (charity of fast breaking) before Salat ul Eid.
7. Preferably pray the Salat ul Eid in Eidgah or in an open ground
8. Recite Takbeer while going to Eidgah/Masjid and coming back to home; going to eidgah/masjid by one route and coming back by another route is a sunnah.
ALLAHO-AKBAR, ALLAHO-AKBAR, LA-ILLAHA ILL LLALAHALLAHO WALLAHO AKBAR ALLAHO-AKBAR WALILAHIL HAMUD.
9. Listen khutbah silently
10. Wish each other by saying Eid Mubarak.
11. A very important aspect of Eid is charity, which all the Muslims are expected to extend to the needy, destitute, poor and orphans. And do not forget sick persons on this Eid.
Eid is the time to spread happiness and love and simultaneously time for forgiveness and reconciliations. It is also a day of forgetting old grudges and ill feelings towards other.
