TA soldier, cop among 4 arrested
PLANTING GRENADES
Jammu, Aug 26: Close on the heels of busting of two cop-turned-militant modules, police claimed to have arrested four persons including a soldier of Territorial Army and a constable of Jammu and Kashmir police and recovered one Chinese grenade from their possession in Rajouri.
The accused persons have been identified as Aurangzeb son of Muhammad Ramzan resident of Gurdan Bala, Abdul Rashid alias Kaka son of Ismail resident of near Degree College, Rajouri, Abdul Rahim presently posted in district Ramban and Muhammad Hanief (TA Soldier) son of Israil resident of Palma.
Police sources said that on the intervening night of August 24/25, a police
patrol party from police station Rajouri arrested Aurangzeb, after he allegedly broke open the lock of a shop at Darhali Bridge.
During his personal search, one Chinese Grenade was recovered, sources said.
They added that on questioning, Aurangzeb revealed that few days back he had a tiff with his younger brother Javed Iqbal resident of Gurdan at present near Darhali Bridge, Rajouri over some family dispute.
“To take revenge from his brother, he conspired with one Abdul Rashid to frame his brother in a criminal case and purchased a hand grenade”, sources quoting the investigation said.
They added that Abdul Rashid alongwith one constable Abdul Rahim, presently posted in district Ramban, managed a Chinese Grenade from a TA soldier Hanief, which was later handed over to Aurangzeb for keeping it in the shop of his brother.
Due to timely action by the Rajouri Police, Aurangzeb and his accomplices could not succeed in their nefarious designs, police claimed.
