Mirwaiz assures safety to KPs

Srinagar, Aug 2: The chairman of Hurriyat Conference (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq today met a delegation of Pandit community members from Sheikhpora Humhama at his Nageen residence here.
 The delegation apprised Mirwaiz about the problems faced by the community. “They also showed him a threat letter whereby they have been asked to leave Kashmir,” said a spokesman of the Hurriyat in a statement today.
 Replying to their queries, Mirwaiz assured them that Pandits were inalienable part of Kashmir society. He told them that being Muslims and part of a Majority community, “it is our duty to protect the life and property of minorities”.
 Mirwaiz declared that there was no danger to Pandit community. He said in the past some untoward incident happened, but it was only due to the conspiracies hatched by the agencies and their ilk.
 He told them they should live in Kashmir without feeling threatened and paying no heed to the negative propaganda.
